How to write a cover or Motivational letter for international scholarships? ( Free Template)

How to write a cover or Motivational letter for international scholarships? (Free template!)

A cover letter is a one-page document that explains why you are the best choice among your competitors.

cover letter of motivation

Here are tips on how to put together a motivational letter and get you accepted right away.

1. Make it personal

Everything you need to know about the application In most cases, most applicants fail because they try to copy other people's work. While many of your interests may overlap, it's always a good idea to write it yourself and make it as personal as possible.  Really explain why you need the position and highlight how you connect with the company in terms of skills, goals, vision, and mission. You might also consider mentioning a few things that drive your passion. This could help shed light on, for example, your employer why you are a perfect fit for the position you are applying for. Finally, you might consider researching the name of the person you're addressing, as this will help find a connection. Address them by name and title at the beginning of your writing.

2. Make sure you cover the basics

Remember, the idea behind writing this type of letter is to convince the institution or person to offer you the position. As a result, be clear and concise while stating your intention. Use this as another opportunity to explain why you are the right fit for the position and not someone else. Like, state what you will achieve when you get the chance and what your contributions will be when you finally get the chance.

3. Brief and straight to the point

Most employers often do not have much time and patience to read long texts. To save them time and capitalize on the "weakness" at the same time, keep your writing brief. Get straight to the point without a lot of unnecessary backstory. For example, if you're applying for a job, let your employer know why you haven't chosen another company since you started writing. Note: Invest most of your time in visualizing instead of telling.

4. Keep it interesting

As much as you want to portray that you are a serious candidate and want the position, it doesn't hurt to not be boring. In addition, it will be an addition because your employer will also be motivated to read your letter. Don't let the person reading your article get the wrong picture of you by engaging them with short stories. Since this is a one-page text, make sure that each story serves the main purpose of the letter. Additionally, strive to personalize this feature once more.

5. Do your thorough research

It is advisable to have enough information about the institution you want to join. So if they have a website, you might consider researching their motto, vision and mission statement. Consider how your interests fit in with each of these aspects. Then write it and use all the reasons why you want to be a part of them. In addition, no teacher or employer will deny you an opportunity if they notice that you have what it takes for the position.

6. Your grammar should be on point

Make sure you proofread before submitting. If possible, ask a friend to read it before joining. You might also consider using a proofreading tool to help you spot mistakes you might not otherwise notice.
