Eligible types of work experience
Chevening does not only require professional work experience. Candidates for Chevening scholarships must have at least two years of experience. The following types of work experience may be eligible for Chevening:
- Full time employment
- Part time job
- Voluntary work
- Paid or unpaid internships
You do not have to meet the experience requirement in one employment relationship. Applicants can submit up to ten different periods of employment to meet the requirement. Chevening Scholarships: 2,800 hours are equal to two years of work experience.
Chevening Scholarship Requirements and Eligibility Criteria
A Chevening Scholarship 2023 applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Possess citizenship in a country or area that qualifies for Chevening.
- Return to your country of citizenship for at least two years after the end of your award.
- Complete all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to enter a postgraduate program at a UK university at the time you submit your application. This is equivalent to a 2:1 upper second class honors in the United Kingdom.
- Have at least two years of experience = 2,800 hours.
- Apply to three different eligible UK University courses and you will receive an unconditional offer from one of them.
