INTRODUCTION
The government of Pakistan has
offered scholarships to students of least developed Commonwealth countries that
include Bangladesh, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra
Leone, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Uganda, Tanzania, Vanuatu and Zambia.
Fields
of Study
The
fields of study that the students may apply in include Social Sciences, Gender
Studies, Arts & Humanities, Management and Business Education, Agriculture
and Veterinary Sciences, and Natural Sciences/Physical Sciences for master's
degree and PhD programs only.
Admission Process:
Following
procedure will be followed:
1.
The students will apply through nominating
agencies of their respective Governments by mentioning the name of Pakistani
universities (1st, 2nd & 3rd choice) and field of studies where she/he wish
to get admission.
2.
Nominating agencies of respective Governments
will make the nomination of students as per the eligibility criteria in
coordination with HEC/respective University after meeting their admission bench
marks (percentage). The data of nominated students will be shared with HEC
Pakistan. Nomination would be on competitive basis on highest academic merit.
3.
The applicant will be required to complete
all requisite documents for university admission process.
4.
HEC Pakistan will facilitate and coordinate
with the student through nominating agencies of respective Governments for
their enrollment in respective Pakistani universities in relevant discipline.
HEC Pakistan will share the list of nominated students with selected Pakistani
universities for securing acceptance/provisional admission as per their
choices. The received nominations will be forwarded to respective universities
keeping in view the preference pledged by applicants, for placement as per
eligibility & merit criteria of the university.
5.
After completion of all documentation, HEC
Pakistan will issue NOC for academic purposes only in favor of finally selected
student to study in Pakistan.
6.
HEC Pakistan relevant staff will coordinate
with respective embassies, ministries including Foreign Office, Ministry of
Interior and concerned Agencies for completing all formalities.
7.
Finally selected students will be enrolled in
public sector universities by considering their admission choices (1st, 2nd
& 3rd) at Pakistani universities.
Mode
of Applying:
Nominating agencies of respective Governments will coordinate with HEC Pakistan and advertise the scholarship. The students of these countries will compete for award of scholarship, as per the eligibility criteria in coordination with HEC Pakistan.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
·
No
dual national is allowed, only students from least developed countries of
Commonwealth are eligible to apply.
·
The
applicants must fulfil eligibility criteria of Pakistani Universities. As mode
of teaching is English, therefore, applicants should have passed IELTS or TOFEL
or provide English Proficiency Certificate.
·
Moreover,
candidates applying for Master's degree must have completed Bachelor's degree
which have equivalency of 16 years viz. 04 years Bachelor's degree program
graduated from State recognized University and equated by Higher Education
Commission (HEC), Pakistan.
·
The
major disciplines or subjects applied for Masters degree programs at Pakistani
universities should be in the relevant major disciplines already studied by the
applicant during their last degree program.

Duration of Degree:

should reach HEC Pakistan 03 months before the start of respective session.

Other Relevant Information
VISA PROCEDURE:
After endorsement / NOC issued by
HEC, the student would apply for a visa through Pakistan Embassy at respective
country. She or he would submit the following documents:
1. Student Visa Form
2. Photocopy of passport
3. Photographs (08)
4. All relevant transcripts, diplomas,
and other educational documents
5. Acceptance / Admission letter from
the Pakistani university applied to
6. NOC issued by HEC before visa.
7. NOC issued by respective Embassy at
Islamabad to study in Pakistan
8. Any other document if required
by HEC / Pakistan Embassy at respective country.
·
HEC
Pakistan would notify the enrollment / NOC to concerned university and Ministry
for visa endorsement
·
The
visa would be processed through Pakistan Embassy at respective country.
·
The
visa, once issued, must be renewed annually, adhering to the country's
required/valid security clearance process.
Age:
·
Age
between 20 years to 35 years for MS / M.Phil. on or before the application
deadline.
Accommodation:
·
Accommodation
at university hostels will be provided by Pakistani universities
Travel Arrangement to Pakistan and
Return:
·
HEC
will reimburse return economy airfare to students of least developed countries
of the Commonwealth.
